Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Human Animal Interaction

This is an exciting time for Hartpury, as from September 2018 we became both a university and a college on a single campus; this is an amazing achievement in the history of our institution.

Renowned for excellence in sport, equine, animal and land based curricula, we provide a unique high quality experience in a focused and supportive environment, challenging our learners in the pursuit of excellence.

We need an experienced lecturer to join our Human Animal Interaction team at the university. Hartpury provides a rich environment for anthrozoology, encompassing biological, pedagogic, companion animal, production animal, zoo animal, equine and veterinary teaching, research and knowledge exchange activities.

As well as a strong academic base in animal ethics and welfare, we have extensive contacts across a range of animal industries and within education and human healthcare, which support a vibrant and collaborative anthrozoology research group.

You will have the Higher Education teaching experience to deliver across our animal portfolio, combined with vocational or educational experience of Human Animal Interaction in practice. Prior experience of general animal science and UG and PG supervision would be welcomed.

With a collegiate approach to teamwork, you will demonstrate excellence and innovation in teaching and supporting high-quality student experience. You will have the drive to progress the field of Human Animal Interaction externally and be a role model to our students, inspiring them to succeed in this sector.

You will have a relevant postgraduate qualification and be keen to develop a record of practice and scholarship in Human Animal Interaction.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Dr Jane Williams, Head of Department Animal and Agriculture: jane.williams-at-hartpury.ac.uk .

We offer excellent benefits including continuous professional development opportunities, 35 days annual leave entitlement plus bank holidays, onsite fitness facilities, free onsite parking and lots more.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment.  All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.  Click the button below to apply online or telephone (01452) 702135 to request documents by post.
